Postcard SCAM
“WATER UPDATE”
It has come to our attention that some of you have received a post card in the mail similar to the one pictured below. The card says that they tried and failed to contact you, and requests that you call a number on the card. This is a SCAM, do not reply to it. Because it says “Water Update”, some people assume it was sent to them by the MONROE TOWNSHIP UTILITY DEPARTMENT (M.T.U.D.), your local water department. It was not sent to you by us! The Monroe Township Utility Department does not solicit “Water Updates”. We do prepare an annual Consumer Confidence Report every Spring and this report on water quality is available on-line at http://www.monroetud.com/ccr.html or you can come by our offices at 143 Union Valley Road and pick up a copy. If you are contacted in any manner by anyone soliciting a “Water Update”, do not respond to it. We urge all customers to never provide their personal information to strangers. MTUD’s phone numbers have not changed: 732-521-1700 or 609-655-1050. If the number listed on the yellow card isn’t already disconnected, it may connect you with a voice mail requesting that you leave certain personal information on the answering machine (bank or other financial information). AGAIN: Do not leave any personal information. If you have received a card like this one, please call us and let us know.
